Gingerbread Houses & Cone-heads!

Kelti and her friend, Brittany, made a great gingerbread house...from scratch. They entered it in the contest at their school. It took a long time, designing it, baking it, putting it together, and then decorating. Kelti spent over 3 hours one afternoon putting candy and frosting on it. She has developed quite the talent for creating/baking things. She wants to learn how to do cake decorating.




Our poor Bella hurt her eye some how...we have no idea how! As a result she has a hole in her cornea. The vet patched the eyeball and sewed her second eyelid closed to protect it. We will find out tomorrow if this was successful. If her eye did not heal, she will lose her eye. It is very sad, but we are hoping for the best. Bella is really not impressed with wearing the cone around her head. We have been entertained at her expense!

Life in Cameron's World

My nephew in California is 3 years old and quite a character. Today he shocked his mom and sister with a whitty response to his own question.
He asked his mom how do birds learn to fly. So naturally, my sister-in-law explained the process. To which he responded..."They wing it!"
Where do kids come up with these things?! Cute kid!

Big Buddha's Cool School

Kiana and Mitchell's school was nominated for the "Cool School" of the Week with Fox 13 TV station. The school was on the TV live yesterday morning showing some of the highlights of the activities the school does. Below is the link to view the segments.

Temple Square Lights

Obviously, it has been a long time since I have been on my blog...life has been a bit crazy. It's that time of year! So I finally have a quiet moment this morning and thought that I would get on here.

On the Friday after Thanksgiving, Temple Square in Salt Lake, turns on the Christmas lights. We have been there to see the lights every year that we have lived here, but we have never been there for the big turn on. So with the Ubeda family here from Australia, we went down for the big event. It was a great time and the kids loved it.

When I was at BYU-Hawaii, I became really good friends with a girl from Australia, Kerin. We haven't seen each other since we left BYUH and lost contact with each other quite a while ago. I have been trying to track her down for about a year. Anyway, I finally found her just as she and her family were about to move to Utah. She arrived last week and they are staying with us until they find a house.
It has been great catching up and seeing our kids play together. Our kids are close in age and get along great!

Kerin's family lived in Queensland, Australia, which is a very nice climate...they don't get snow! Anyway, her kids went out to play the other morning and came in freezing. It was chilly and they were so excited to use their new winter coats, hats, and gloves. It was so cute!

Bight Me Edward!

Ok, it is almost a week now since we saw Twilight...finally getting around to a post is no reflection on my opinion of the movie. I really enjoyed it. There is a lot missing from the book, but in the movie's defense, there is no way they could have gotten everything in the book in a 2 hour movie. Edward was just yummy and that is all that matters! I want to go see it again.
We went with a group of about 14 women from our ward. It was so much fun. We were all crazy and silly, which just added to the movie experience.

Bite Me Edward!

Youth Program

Last night Kelti had the opportunity to go up to the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake and be part of the filming of a new broadcast for the youth of the Church. The film is being made to promote the theme for the youth in 2009. It will be broadcast world wide in January.
Kelti came home so pumped up and excited about it. She loved being able to see the Church leaders and be with all the other youth there. The Conference Center holds about 21,000 people. Can you imagine that many youth and their leaders...crazy. She was about 7 rows from the front and cameras all around. Anyway, she had a great experience. I'm so glad that we live here in Utah so that my kids have these opportunities.
